Ilias G. Bissias is a lawyer, member of the Athens Bar, and the Director of the acclaimed and award winning magazine Greek Shipping Magazine Naftika Chronika (published since 1931). Mr. Bissias has extended experience in Crisis
Management and Press Relations through his work as a Press officer of leading companies as well as the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. His Publishing Company has a long standing cooperation with the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. In this respect Mr. Bissias is the principal contractor and coordinator of important marketing activities in respect to the promotion of the seafarer's profession.

He is currently the Press Officer of Tomasos Bros Inc, a historical shipping company.

Mr. Bissias has regularly lectured on the areas of crisis management and press relations since 2001 at various educational
establishments around Greece. Since 2008 he is lecturing and as a Teaching Assistant at the University of the Aegean on the following areas: International Shipping Policy, Corporate Communications and Maritime Education.

In the past he has also worked for the European Commission (1999-2002) and was a legal correspondent for Greece in the areas of air transport law and policy.

Mr. Bissias holds a Bachelor and Master's Degree in Law from the University of London and is currently researching on the image of shipping and crisis management and on the socio9logical profile of young Greeks at Sea at the University of the Aegean. He has attended various specialized and prestigious courses and seminars in the USA, the UK and Greece
on Crisis Management, on the Psychology of the Victim and on the Role of the Media.

In 2009 he was invited by the US State Department to visit the US on the IV Leadership Program. His trip focused on Maritime education and crisis/ disaster management in specific States with maritime tradition.
